Delete Your Bunechat Account
This page explains how to permanently delete your Bunechat account and associated data.
⚠️ Warning: Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. All your data will be deleted according to our retention policy below.
How to Delete Your Account
To request account deletion, follow these steps in the Bunechat app:
- Open the Bunechat app on your device
- Go to your Profile (tap your profile picture in the bottom navigation)
- Tap the Settings icon (⚙️) in the top right corner
- Scroll down to the Account section
- Tap "Delete Account"
- Read the confirmation message carefully
- Tap "Delete My Account" to confirm
- Your account will be immediately disabled and scheduled for permanent deletion
What Data Will Be Deleted
When you delete your Bunechat account, the following data will be permanently deleted:
- Profile Information: Display name, username, phone number, profile picture, banner image, status, bio
- Personal Information: Date of birth, location data, privacy settings
- Content: All posts, stories, comments, media uploads (photos, videos, audio)
- Social Data: Friends list, followers, following, likes, interactions
- Call History: Voice and video call records, call logs
- Account Data: Authentication credentials, device tokens, session data
- App Activity: Usage statistics, preferences, settings
- Financial Data: Purchase history for call credits (transaction records retained as required by law)
Data Retention & Deletion Timeline
Immediate (Within 24 hours):
- Your account is disabled and no longer accessible
- Your profile is removed from search and public view
- Active sessions are terminated
Within 30 Days:
- All user data listed above is permanently deleted from active databases
- Content is removed from Firebase Storage (cloud storage)
- Your data is removed from backup systems
Data Retained (Legal Requirements):
- Transaction Records: Purchase history and billing information may be retained for up to 7 years as required by tax and financial regulations
- Legal Compliance: Data required for legal proceedings, fraud prevention, or regulatory compliance may be retained as legally required
- Anonymized Analytics: Aggregate, anonymized usage statistics (with no personally identifiable information) may be retained indefinitely
Note: Messages you've sent in chats will remain visible to other participants even after your account is deleted. However, your profile information will be replaced with "Deleted User."
Before You Delete
Before deleting your account, consider:
- Download Your Data: If you want a copy of your data, contact us before deletion (see below)
- Outstanding Payments: Any unused call credits will be forfeited and are non-refundable
- Username: Your username may become available for others to use after deletion
- Recovery: Account deletion is permanent. We cannot recover your account or data after deletion is complete
Alternative: Temporarily Deactivate
If you're not ready for permanent deletion, you can temporarily deactivate your account by adjusting your privacy settings to hide your profile. This allows you to return later without losing your data.
